John Christie is a veteran newspaperman who has been a reporter, editor and publisher in small and large newspapers in Massachusetts, Florida and Maine. His specialty has been political and investigative stories, but he has also written feature stories for jc readingmagazines, edited books and been the primary editor for two Pulitzer Prize finalists.

He has been published in the Boston Globe, Boston magazine and Yankee magazine, among others, and has won national and regional writing awards. In 2014 he was awarded the Yankee Quill for “lifetime achievement” for his contribution to New England journalism and also was named the Donald M. Murray Visiting Journalist at his alma mater, the University of New Hampshire.

In 2009, he co-founded with his wife, Naomi Schalit, the Maine Center for Public Interest Reporting, a non-profit, independent investigative news service. He is currently a consulting editor with the Center.

Christie is working on a memoir about growing up in Dover, N.H., “Prince of New Hampshire: An American boyhood in the shadow of a genocide.”
He lives with his wife in Gloucester, Mass.
